Sat on the sofa aged 12/13 (-ish) with Popfessions lady Laura Snapes (sister) doing our daily flick through the music channels on Sky. Nothing out of the ordinary going on until such point that she came across MTV2, which happened to be playing ‘MMMbop’ courtesy of Hanson.
Prior to us reaching MTV2 Laura had been asking me if I found particular (FEMALE, I MUST STRESS THIS) singers attractive and so far, disappointingly, there had not been any to my taste or satisfaction.
However as we turned onto MTV2 and my eyes gazed upon Taylor Hanson my first thought (obviously at the time not realising that ‘she’ was actually a ‘he’) WOW.
I then decided to announce to my sister, with great gusto and feverishness, “Sod Kelly Rowland, SHE IS HOT.” Cue copious amounts of laughter from the other sofa and a mistake that has and will sadly forever more live with me for life.
Laura likes to kindly remind me, that when I do get married, she will be giving the “alternative” sister speech and including this as her opening paragraph along with a story about flavoured pigs (No, us neither – Popfessions eds).
