Having discovered P-Rock TV on SKY around 2002 after reading Gary Bushell’s TV page in The People, I was introduced to a few bands I wouldn’t normally have heard, such as The Distillers, Box Car Racer, Rancid and the reason why I’m writing here: Canadian pop-punkers Simple Plan, with their song ‘Addicted’ and the line “I’m a dick, I’m addicted to you”. I just thought they were great, I bought their DVD, and after watching it, was inspired to write them a fan letter, which I had never done before or since.

I never got a reply. After that I actually went to see Avril Lavigne in Glasgow beacuse Simple Plan were supporting. All in all I saw them about nine times, travelling to London for the first time to see them play two dates at The Astoria and a few years later they played three gigs in one day in Camden. So there you go, that’s my embarrassing music story
